Elasticity: The fabric has no elastic content, however the cotton component of the fabric will slowly stretch to your shape (similar to the way denim stretches to fit the wearer).

While this abaya is made in Egypt, it definitely takes its inspiration from the traditional wedding dresses of Libya known as “harisa.” A real harisa is a white silk dress adorned with silver and gold embroidery (usually in the V shape depicted in the embroidery on this abaya), and adorned with masses of gold jewellery, also in the distinctive V style. Another similarity between this garment and traditional harisa is the beautiful bell sleeves. Admittedly, this is where the similarities end, as harisa is worn with a pair of pants under the main dress. Likewise, this abaya is made of a cotton mixed material that looks and feels like linen, while the embroidery is made of a wool material. So this abaya breathes beautifully, and as it is mixed with polyester, it doesn’t crease horribly like pure linen likes to do! This is a gorgeous abaya fit for daily wear, but taking clear inspiration from a truly beautiful Libyan tradition. It is also a very generous size, so it can easily be worn over clothes and stays stylish in its silhouette even when worn loosely. This is a simply gorgeous abaya and not one to be missed!
