Elasticity: The fabric has no elastic content, however the cotton component of the fabric will slowly stretch to your shape (similar to the way denim stretches to fit the wearer).

A classic feature of many African and Middle Eastern traditional clothes is Guipure lace. This is a heavy lace, similar to crochet or other traditional lace making crafts. The thread used to make this lace is thick, allowing the lace to sit higher than the fabric it is stitched to - giving an embossed appearance to the decoration. Here it is also visually contrasted against the plum fabric of the dress, another traditional colour of Muslim majority nations. In line with Islamic tradition, women in these nations have traditionally embraced more muted colours, allowing them to enjoy the colours of the natural world without wearing garments that are so bright, they become attention grabbing and thus not in line with the type of modesty that rejects public attention upon the body and rather embraces personal satisfaction with one’s appearance.

Therefore, we choose the term “One Size Fits Many” and note that this abaya should fit most people who wear any size up to a Myriad Modest Fashion 2XL. You will also note this abaya has a V neckline, so if wearing it as a dress, you may wish to wear a singlet or shirt beneath it in line with your own modesty standards.
