For many people, when they think of the silhouette of an abaya, this is the garment they think of. A closed abaya, made of crepe or chiffon or other fabrics that drape loosely and elegantly. A garment in a dark colour (particularly black but also navy blue, slate grey etc) and an abaya roomy enough to be worn over other clothes.

As an interesting aside, while this seller was situated in Saudi Arabia, we are not sure if this garment was made there or made elsewhere and imported to the seller. The reason this garment is listed as being from Saudi Arabia is because this was the birthplace of the Islamic faith. As such, garments that were developed in the Middle East in response to Islamic modesty principles, and are still popular today, are often described as being Saudi. However, abayas were developed and worn all over the Middle East since the earliest days of Islam, so this is more of a generalised description of traditional Middle Eastern clothes rather than a definitive source of garment production.

There is a reason abayas have been popular for more than 1000 years, and this abaya demonstrates that reason. These are garments if grace, femininity and beauty as well as being practical, sensible and modest garments. This is an abaya every modest dresser should own, as there is no where it would not be a beautiful and appropriate fashion choice. ❤️
