The Kaftan (or Caftan) is recognised by UNESCO as being a garment of cultural significance. However, UNESCO also recognise that it is a garment that has a shared history, as many places independently developed kaftans as part of their cultural dress. It is believed the kaftan originated in Central Asia and Mesopotamia in the first millennium. The garment is described as being an overcoat or tunic worn over clothing. The open, overcoat style kaftans are the ones that have influenced the traditional Moroccan kaftan as well as our Tailored Kaftans also made in Malaysia.The tunic style kaftan has become the basis of the resort style or boho style kaftans that have become incredibly popular in the West and is the influence for this kaftan.

Made from a cotton/rayon mixed fabric, this kaftan seemingly floats as you move within it. The raglan style sleeves just add the the floaty ephemeral beauty of this dress.
