This entire fair trade, slow fashion principle is entirely inline with the hippy style which came out of the 1960s-70s pop-culture and political movement of the same name. Hippy philosophies sought to recognise the influence of ethnic communities, celebrate historical and traditional folk arts, and create environmentally and socially sustainable employment opportunities via local cooperatives and community interests. This shirt is made utilising a modern implementation of these philosophies. It celebrates the use of natural (thus more environmentally sustainable) products, and the use of these products in garments that emphasise earthy colours and folk art - two elements critical to the hippy aesthetic.
